"Faith goes up the stairs that love has built and looks out the windows which hope has opened"... Each year since 2015, the Tunnel to Towers Foundation has held the Tunnel to Towers Tower Climb NYC at One World Observatory at One World Trade Center in New York City. One thousand participants climb 104 stories, symbolizing strength, hope and the resiliency of the American spirit. The event celebrates the life and sacrifice of all 9/11 heroes, including FDNY firefighter Stephen Siller and FDNY Captain Billy Burke. I am a proud monthly donor to this amazing organization and this year I can say I am a proud participant.
Since 2020, I have been visually impaired. To say that it has been easy for me to accept that I can't see would be lying, but with the support of "my team" of family, friends, and doctors I have experienced first hand the true meaning of hope, resiliency and the American spirit. In 2023, I had triple bypass surgery and committed, then, to a heart healthy lifestyle. The past three years have been life changing for me in the most positive way; and it has been my goal to climb the tower to honor the heroes who ran towards danger when everyone else was running away...well this is the year I can finally achieve that goal, and with your generosity and help I hope I can raise some money for people who have sacrificed so much for all of us...
From what I have been told, the view from One World Observatory at the top of One World Trade Center is nothing short of spectacular. My life's journey these past few years has been filled with love and hope allowing me to "see" the world in a different way...I am happier than I have ever been and I am climbing for all of them!
